Over a thirty eight -year period my life - 55 years if you include the years I built rods as an amateur, has centred around designing fly rods based on my fishing experiences and my concept of how a fly rod should perform. Luckily a good number of customers seemed to agree with my ideas on rod design - and since 1977 I’ve been running a successful business building fly rods of the highest quality.
Thank you to you all. Everything has to end at some time though. The years spent building rods seems to have passed so quickly! I passed retirement age a few years back and principally due to the onset of osteoarthritis in my hands, I felt that it was time to slow down and withdraw from full time rod making.
My blank rolling equipment will remain in service for at least the next year to service customers who have broken Norwich rods. Some of the early models can no longer be serviced though as many of these where made before I produced my own rod blanks. Arthiritis permitting I will do my best to get your Norwich rod back in service.
Rod Repairs - If your rod of any make has broken in any section and the break is reasonably clean, I can usually at minimal cost bond it back together with an internal carbon fibre spigot and/or a carbon fibre over wrap for you. Currently this costs around £35-£40.00 for trout rods and slightly more for some of the larger diameter double handed salmon rod sections.
